Lip fillers are a very popular treatment, for both younger and older patients. Many people have a preconceived idea of what lip fillers look like and have a negative opinion of them. This is often down to having seen lip fillers that have not been injected correctly and look overinflated.
Terms like ‘duck lips’ and ‘trout pout’ are a common way of describing lip fillers that have not been administered correctly. When too much filler is injected incorrectly in the lip area the filler migrates beyond the vermillion border and this can lead to overinflated lips that look very big and unnatural.
Natural looking lip fillers
At Dr Linea Medical in Ipswich, all our injectors are medically trained and we are CQC registered, meaning we have high quality standards, and that we put patient safety at the forefront of everything we do. This includes being ethical in how we treat our patients. We look at each patient as an individual, and take their natural features into account before we inject. Our ethos is to always provide our lip filler patients with natural looking results.
Why do people have lip fillers?
Patients choose lip filler for many different reasons. They can be used to combat the signs of ageing lips, to create balance and asymmetry, and to add more volume. Ultimately patients opt for lip filler treatments because they like the effect, and in some cases this improves how they feel about themselves, their confidence and self esteem.
Lip filler for ageing lips
When we age we lose collagen and elastin in our skin and this isn’t just true of the skin on our faces. You may notice that your lips become less voluptuous, are more lined and look dehydrated as you age.
Many patients, both male and female, will decide to have a small amount of lip filler to counteract the signs of lip ageing. The lip filler can add back lost volume, smooth lines and make your lips look softer and more hydrated. You may be surprised to know that there are many older patients who have had this treatment, but you wouldn’t be able to tell because the fillers look so natural.
Asymmetry and balancing
Some patients have naturally thin lips or lips that don’t look to be in balance with one another. Lip filler can be used to make thin lips look fuller, or to rebalance lips, for example if one lip is a lot bigger than the other, we can use lip fillers to make them more symmetrical.
Adding more volume
Some patients already have fuller lips but would like to add more volume. This is something we can provide to patients, as long as we are able to do this while still being able to provide natural looking results.
Dissolving lip fillers
Occasionally we see patients who have had lip fillers done elsewhere and they have not been happy with the results.
If this is the case, we can dissolve lip fillers for you at Dr Linea Medical. By injecting hyaluronidase into the lips, the filler is broken down, returning your lips to their natural shape and size. Many patients will decide to have more filler after having their lips dissolved.
