This year saw the launch of a long awaited new product from the makers of Profhilo.
Profhilo Structura is the latest hyaluronic acid treatment that promises to restore lost facial volume and to improve skin quality and texture.
Our faces show signs of ageing due to a combination of bone loss, diminished collagen and elastin and fat redistribution, which can lead to our faces looking gaunt and hollow. Profhilo Structura has been designed to target the deep fat layers underneath the skin. When this treatment is injected it helps correct the look of a hollowed face which has been caused by midface fat loss, and gives the face a more contoured look.

The difference between Profhilo and Profhilo Structura
Profhilo is a more superficial treatment than its sister product, Profhilo Structura. Profhilo is often referred to as an injectable moisturiser. It is a hyaluronic acid that is injected into specific points in the top layer of the skin. It gradually spreads out across the face, improving the look, tone and texture of the skin.
In contrast Profhilo Structura is injected at a deeper level in the face and works on restructuring and repositioning mid face volume. Profhilo Structura is designed for patients who are noticing more advanced signs of ageing.
A Profhilo Structura appointment will take about 30 minutes. It is injected via a cannula along the cheek and preauricular which means it is generally less painful than regular Profhilo injections. The area will be numbed before your treatment to ensure minimal discomfort. You may find a slight ridge develops around the treatment area which will disappear after around 3 days.
The results should start to show up around 2-3 weeks post your second treatment, but will continue to get better over time. You will see the optimum results around 3 months after your second session.
To get the most benefits from Profhilo Structura treatment you should have two treatments about 4 weeks apart to start off with. After this you will only have to commit to maintenance treatments every four-six months to preserve your results.
Profhilo Structura offers different results to traditional dermal fillers. Fillers are used to create definition, contouring and add volume to multiple areas of the face. Profhilo Structura restores and repositions facial fat specifically targeting lost volume in the mid face.
