Weight loss treatment in Ipswich

Wegovy weight loss treatment

A common complaint for those of all ages, shapes and sizes is their weight. Many people have tried every diet they can find, pilates, HIIT and so on and just can’t seem to shift the pounds.

Our weight management programme uses semaglutide injections which work by acting on receptors in the brain that control your appetite, causing you to feel more satisfied with less food and feel fuller for longer. This in turn will help to reduce your body weight.

It should be used in addition to diet and exercise for adults aged 18 and above who have:

  • a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or greater (obese) or
  • a BMI of 27 kg/m2 and less than 30 kg/m2 (overweight) and weight-related health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or breathing problems during sleep called sleep apnoea.

What is the process?

The first step is a comprehensive consultation carried out by Dr Linea. This is where we will discuss your suitability for treatment, medical history, and your current diet and exercise regimen.

Providing you are suitable for treatment Dr Linea will then explain how you safely and effectively administer the drug at home. This is typically once per week, at the same time on the same day.

Once you have started on your treatment plan, Dr Linea will provide ongoing nutritional support and advice throughout the process.

The longevity of dermal fillers can vary depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. Generally, results can last from 6 months to over a year. It’s important to discuss the expected duration of results with your practitioner during the consultation.

Patients may experience mild discomfort during the injection, but dermal filler procedures often include a numbing agent either within the filler itself or applied topically. Some clinics also offer additional local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort.

As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects. Common side effects include redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. More serious complications are rare but can include allergic reactions or filler migration. It’s crucial to have these treatments performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner.

Most hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This allows for adjustments or complete reversal of the filler if needed. However, it’s important to discuss this possibility and the associated risks with your practitioner.
