The skin around our eyes is often a giveaway of how well we have slept and how well we are ageing. Many of our patients who visit us at Dr Linea Medical in Ipswich are concerned with how they look around the eyes. Patients are often concerned with having dark circles, under eye wrinkles and crepey skin in this area.
How can I improve the look of tired eyes?
Up until now if you wanted to improve the look of the skin around the eyes you would most likely have been told to eat better, exercise more, stop drinking and smoking and to get more sleep, which is all good advice. However, if you wanted a quicker fix you may have been prescribed a medical grade cosmetic product to treat the area or have made the decision to wear an under eye concealer.
Injectable treatments for around the eyes
Until recently we have been unable to treat the area close to the eyes with injectables, but that has all changed with the introduction of polynucleotides.
Before having polynucleotides to treat this area the closest we could get to the under eyes was by using tear trough fillers. Tear trough fillers are great for filling out hollow under eyes and they can also improve the look of under eye dark circles, however they are not suitable for every patient.
Why are Polynucleotides good for treating the eyes?
With polynucleotides we can get closer to the eye area than with any other injectable treatment and help reduce the look of concerns like crepey skin, wrinkles and dark circles.
The area close to our eyes is extremely delicate and complex and there are lots of blood vessels. Injecting any treatment into this area can only be done by a trained professional as there are complications and risks if this is not done correctly.
Introducing dermal fillers to the delicate area close to eyes would not be safe and would add volume, which would not solve the concerns that patients who want to improve the look of the skin around their eyes have. Polynucleotides, on the other hand, don’t add volume, but work by using your body’s own unique biology to regenerate your skin from the inside out.
How do Polynucleotides work?
When polynucleotides are injected into the area around the eyes, they stimulate the fibroblasts that naturally occur inside our bodies. Fibroblasts are responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are part of our skin’s building blocks; when we have more collagen and elastin we will have healthier, thicker, smoother looking skin.
When will I see results of Polynucleotide injections?
Unlike dermal fillers, the results of polynucleotide treatment are not instantaneous, since it takes time for our bodies to complete the process of regenerating more collagen and elastin. You may start to notice the results of polynucleotide injections around the eye area in two to three weeks, but you can expect to see the full results around three months after your course of injections.
Polynucleotides around the eyes
Injecting polynucleotides around the eyes can improve your skin quality, helping to fight fine lines and wrinkles. They can help improve the look of crepey skin around the eyes, which is often a dead giveaway of how old we are. Polynucleotides can also be used to treat dark under eye circles.
They can be used in isolation or you can combine them with other treatments, such as medical grade cosmetic eye products or tear trough or cheek fillers that can also help improve the look of your under eye area.
